EBC enhances its products through strict quality inspections, including 100% checks for runout, metallurgy, and dimensional accuracy. Additionally, all USA sport rotors are precision-slotted and finished at either the Las Vegas facility or the UK headquarters.

Before release, every sport rotor undergoes meticulous balancing and runout inspection to guarantee optimal performance. All GD series and USR discs are coated with a durable, corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting protection.

Lightweight with Reduced Rotational Inertia

It is well understood that a vehicle continuously battles against its own weight while in motion. Excess weight hinders acceleration, impairs braking efficiency, and slows directional changes. While a brake disc inevitably adds mass to a vehicle, its impact is even more critical as it contributes to unsprung weight. Additionally, because the brake disc rotates, it also generates rotational inertia.

The influence of a brake disc on vehicle dynamics is therefore more pronounced than that of most other weight-adding components. EBC Brakes Racing’s 2-piece rotors provide a substantial weight reduction compared to similar-sized brake rotors, enhancing acceleration, reducing front-end dive under braking, and improving tire grip. In particular, SG2FC 2-piece conversions deliver a noticeable and highly perceptible improvement in vehicle responsiveness, felt immediately by the driver.

  • Fully Floating SG2F Two Piece Rotors/Discs

    EBC’s SG2F rotors are designed as a direct replacement for performance vehicles originally equipped with 2-piece brake rotors, such as the Nissan GT-R (R35).

    For vehicles featuring OEM 2-piece pin-drive rotors, the SG2F upgrade provides a seamless swap to a fully floating 2-piece rotor, delivering enhanced performance without requiring any modifications to the vehicle.

  • SG2FC Two Piece Hub and Ring Solid Rotor Conversions

    EBC’s SG2FC conversions upgrade factory 1-piece cast iron rotors to high-performance 2-piece floating alternatives, enhancing braking efficiency and reducing unsprung weight. Ideal for vehicles such as the Ford Focus RS (Mk3) and Honda Civic Type R (FK8), these rotors provide a significant performance boost.

    Additionally, SG2FK rotors are a key component of EBC Brakes Racing’s Balanced Brake Kits™, delivering superior braking balance and responsiveness.

Each outer ring is cast from G3500, a premium-grade disc alloy engineered for high performance. Developed from race technology, this high-carbon, high-copper alloy offers exceptional thermal conductivity and superior heat cycling durability, ensuring maximum rotor lifespan and optimal performance—especially under intense driving conditions or on the track.

  • Modern Vehicles

    On many modern vehicles, the vanes on one side rotate in the wrong direction, causing uneven disc temperatures and creating a left-to-right temperature imbalance. Unlike many OEMs that prioritize cost savings over performance, EBC Brakes Racing engineers its rotor rings with a handed design, ensuring optimal brake system efficiency.

    Additionally, while exterior machined surfaces may appear similar across different brake rotors, a closer inspection down the vanes often reveals the difference in quality. EBC Brakes Racing rotor rings feature exceptionally smooth cast surfaces, setting them apart from most competitor rotors in both durability and performance.

  • Improved Flow Velocity

    EBC achieves this superior quality by using precision-molded resin sand in the casting process, producing a significantly smoother surface that minimizes airflow restriction over the cooling vanes. Less turbulence results in higher flow velocity, enhancing the rotor’s ability to dissipate heat efficiently.

    When viewed as a centrifugal pump, the rotor ring’s improved airflow directly translates to better cooling performance, allowing it to function more effectively as a heat exchanger. The mounting bells in EBC Brakes Racing’s 2-piece rotors are precision-machined from aerospace-grade billet aluminum, ensuring an ideal balance of strength and lightweight performance.

To enhance durability, each bell undergoes a black anodizing process, resulting in a sleek, corrosion-resistant finish. This not only adds to their aesthetic appeal but also allows the mounting bells to be reused with multiple outer friction rings, significantly reducing long-term running costs.
